Hard At Work

Phew. The end of my full working week, and yes, I've nicked my sister's laptop to provide you with a much-awaited bloggle post. Let's go through the working week and see how much I remember that's worthwhile that I can tell you.

Wednesday. Was a complete nightmare. I had been off for a grand total of 9 days and it took me forever to get back in the swing of things. Customers asking for 20 Sterling and me taking an age to figure out what they actually said before meeting the customers demands. Or needs, as was the case with cigarettes. 6am came, finally, and I said to myself, "Right. Tomorrow will be better, so lets walk home and get some rest".

It wasn't. If anything, Thursday was even worse and I started to get the feeling that it was going to be one of those weeks. I don't think I could have survived if things didn't change for the better. It's taking me ages to type this, because the 'F' button on my sister's laptops keyboard has gone missing so I have to fish... no wrong word ... fiddle ... no, again, wrong word ... muck about with looking for the 'f' switch so I can speak English to you. Anyway...

Friday. Things got a lot better and it was busy, like it usually is at the weekend, and time flew by. The first time I looked at the clock was at 4.30am and happiness waved over me like I had hit my maiden century, (fat chance!), and then as quickly as the happiness had come, it was replaced with fear, as I realised I had a load of work to do if I was to go home on time. Time to run!

I made it.. just... and Saturday and Sunday turned out to be average days before realising I had 4 days off! Result! Saturday and Sunday also saw a return for the much awaited cricket season! Of course, I had looked forward to Saturday all week, given the complete disaster I had last week at the hands of alcohol.. I was slightly tired, due to not getting as much sleep as I desired but I wasn't hungover! Hurrah! I, as the captain, won the toss, and elected to bowl first on a green-looking track, (apologies for the cricket jargon), and, ok, we got hit about a bit, but we got them all out for 204 and I got 4 wickets. A good start to the season for me. Batting on the other hand, awful. I only got a handful of runs and we were 24-4. Our middle order rescued the situation slightly, but we were only out for 130 odd and lost comfortably. Still, I enjoyed the match and looked forward to the day after where, after another night shift, I'd be playing in another match!

God had other ideas though. He provided Bedford with an avalanche of storms and rain and ultimately the match was called off. Still, on the plus side, it meant I could get some much needed sleep in time for my final shift of the week. There is a plus and a minus side to everything. Take now for instance. I had a good sleep earlier, but getting up at 6pm means you don't really get to sleep until very early the next morning... Current time: 3:54am.. Ouch..

I've got a few things to look forward to this week however. Pub quiz tomorrow, which last week was the most fun I've had in a long time, then 7-a-side on Thursday hopefully followed by the unfolding of the most historic and eventful general election in years gone by! Well.. maybe not. Then another weekend full of cricket awaits and hopefully God will provide us with some Carribean-esque weather!

Still, my life is as uneventful as a dinner party hosted by David Cameron, so I don't have that much to update you, despite the long absence. Apologies for that..

Ciao x
